I had a friend who had an answer for me. I couldn't decide whether to be offended or commend him for his intelligence. Insurance companies are owned by rich white men (usually Christians), and (now here is the offensive part) how many black men do you know with 4 and 5 kids by 2 or 3 different women? How many Hispanics? How many Muslim men let their women take birth control? Basically he's saying it's a numbers game and they don't want so called minorities and other religions to out breed the white Christians. Evidently they haven't seen the beginning of Idiocracy. (Funny movie, go see it.)
Personally I wouldn't worry about it if I were them. Evidently being a teenager makes you miss that part in health class where they explain that sex leads to babies. I worked with a lot of teenagers until recently and let me tell you. Birth control was the last thing on their minds. Just off the top of my head I can think of 3 unplanned pregnancies and a bad case of herpes from said teenagers. I could probably think of more if I tried. My favorite was the herpes. 3 guys living together brought home 3 girls and shared them. Basically had their way with them and then traded, like they were Pokemon cards. Yes it was consensual, and none of them used condoms. Evidently the girls had no self respect either. Unfortunately one of the guys had herpes and didn't tell anyone until it had spread to the other 2 guys, all 3 girls, and the pregnant girlfriend of one of the guys. I'm not surprised. When you show you have no respect for yourself much less your partner, the universe tends to agree with you. Of course, the universe always tends to agree with your base beliefs about yourself, other people, the world. It's what perspective is.
BTW and just so you know I'm not anti-christian. Although I am surprised how many gay men identify as Christian on Zoosk, Scruff, Grindr, and Match. I know a lot of Christians and most are very intelligent spiritual people. Unfortunately they don't talk as much, as loud, or as publicly as Bill O'Reilly. But that is a discussion for another time.
